you dont know what you have until its gone

I recently had surgery on my wrist. Before the surgery I didn't think it would be that bad because I'm left handed and the surgery was on my right hand. Come to find out I use my right hand just as much as I do my left. These few weeks have been a big challenge by just mostly using one hand instead of two. It's made me re-think about the things in my life that I take for granted not only body parts, but even friends or attributes among the people I'm around. This surgery has been a good experience for me to put things more into perspective. Also it brings the old saying to mind, "You don't know what you got til' it's gone."
